Wine Review: This slightly hazy and medium ruby colored Merlot from Chappellet opens with a red currant and cherry bouquet with hints of cigar box and cola. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh and has nice tension. The flavor profile is a plum and craisin blend with notes of graphite and cherry. We also detected hints of black tea, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Merlot with Stuart's steak treats or a filet mignon. Enjoy - KWGTP
