Wine Review: This dry white wine from the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY is made from the Savagnin grape. It's a medium yellow color, with aromas of golden delicious apple, beeswax, grilled pineapple, spice, and crushed stone dust. On the palate it has a round, lightly viscous mouthfeel with high acidity and a medium body. I found it to be mouthwatering, textured, and fresh with flavors of green apple, lemon, almond, saline, and notes of white pepper and white tea. The finish is tangy and very long. Serve with chicken marsala. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: A fresh wine but also complex with a fleshy mouthfeel. Citrus, yellow apple, salinity, and honey with notes of almond and spice. An exciting new varietal for the Finger Lakes region. One of the oldest vinifera varieties. DNA research shows that prominent varieties such as Riesling and Chardonnay trace their roots back to Savagnin.
