Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Mourvèdre from Jambe de Bois opens with a fragrant malted chocolate milkshake and loam bouquet with hints of blackberry, fig, and faint gingerbread. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, seamless, rich, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is dried coconut and strawberry blend with notes of blackberry and ginger. We also detected hints of spice, red currant, cedar, loam, and green pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and faint round tannins fade away nicely. We also detected a little heat coming through at the end as well. It reminded us of an older Zin. We would pair this Mourvèdre with instant pot beef stew with bacon or a rack of lamb. Enjoy - Ken, Mark, & Stuart
Winemaker Notes: Nice acidity with notes of dark cherry and pepper.
