Wine Review: This clear and ruby colored Pinot Noir from Saxon Brown opens with a dried strawberry and fresh mint bouquet with hints of tobacco and menthol. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, and clean. The flavor profile is a dried strawberry and red raspberry tea blend with notes of maraschino cherry and stony minerality. We also detected hints of black pepper, light oak, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and refined mild tannins fade away nicely. We would pair this delicate Pinot with a German Jägerschnitzel (Hunter’s schnitzel with a brown mushroom gravy or with a mushroom risotto. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Even though we expect great aromatics from this site, nothing could prepare us for the wow factor that came when we popped the cork on our 2023 Roberts Road Pinot Noir. Quintessentially Pinot and then some, the nose opens with exotic notes of mulberry, boysenberry, and orange blossom followed by sweet vanilla, baking spice and chocolate. The palate holds its own with mouthfilling texture, polished red fruit and bright acidity that persists through the long. elegant finish.

Winemaker Interview Series – Brian Pruett – Dry Creek Vineyard – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, we interviewed Brian Pruett. Brian is the winemaker at Dry Creek Vineyard. We covered eight wines during the visit. We started with Chenin Blanc and a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, both from the 2024 vintage. Then we tried three single-vineyard and one historic-field-blend Zinfandel from the 2022 vintage. As you will recall, we really liked 2022 as a Zinfandel vintage. Finally, we wrapped up with their 2021 Red Blend and their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2022 vintage. It was a great tasting and a lot of fun. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Brian and the history of the winery and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines.
