Wine Review: This clear and light straw colored Tsolikauri from Marini opens with a Bosc pear and Honeycrisp apple bouquet with hints of golden raisin. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a gentle Anjou pear and light lime blend with notes of saline and green tea. I also detected hints of quince. The finish is dry, and quite refreshing. I would pair this Tsolikauri with grilled swordfish skewers. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Color: Light golden with greenish tinge.
Aromas: Prevailing aromas of white and yellow fruits.
Palate: Taste is lively and crisp, fresh and fruity with multiple fruit palette, dominated by banana, pear and apples. The finish is long and persistent, accompanied by different spices and cinnamon.
Food Pairing: Serve with grilled fish and salads.

Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of William Cole – Jan 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, we interviewed Cole Ballentine once again. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at William Cole Winery. We first interviewed Cole when we covered his super-premium Predecessor Estate wines in April of 2025. This time around, we covered six wines from the William Cole winery. We started with a 2023 Chardonnay. Then we tried a 2022 red blend. From there, we covered four Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Those Cabs were from the following vintages: 2018, 2022, 2016, and 2009. It was a terrific portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what is new with Cole, learn about the William Cole Winery, and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines.
