Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Merlot from Barlow opens with a black currant and gentle tobacco leaf bouquet with hints of pencil lead. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a black currant and graphite blend with notes of mild tobacco and mulberry. I also detected hints of cardamon, pecans, and fig. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its rather dusty tannins build-up and are nicely sustained. I would pair this Right Bank vibe Merlot with Stuart's beef Wellington. Enjoy - Ken
