Wine Review: This clear and light gold colored Viognier from Jefferson Vineyards opens with a honeysuckle and bee’s wax bouquet with hints of stone fruit, vanilla, and marizipan. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, slightly viscous, and fresh. The flavor profile is a stone fruit and marzipan blend with notes of white pepper and bosc pear. We also detected hints of lychee. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity drift away nicely. We would pair this Viognier with chicken picatta. Enjoy – Ken, Mark, & Mike

Winemaker Notes: Nose: Powerful apricot, with floral and peach notes.
Palate: Vibrant peach and apricot, with crisp citrus notes.
Finish: Lemongrass and mineral qualities, finishing dry.
Food Pairing: The bright, citrus components of the 2024 Jefferson Vineyards Viognier make it an ideal wine for pairing with a range of white fish dishes.

A Visit To Virginia Wine Country – Fall 2026

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
