Wine Review: This brilliant straw-colored Chardonnay from Domaine Drouhin in Oregon opens with a gentle oak and pineapple bouquet with hints of Bartlett pear and golden delicious apple. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and seamless. The flavor profile is a Bartlett pear and gentle oak blend with notes of pineapple and lime. I also detected hints of chalky minerality and golden delicious apple. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity displays very nice length. I would pair this Chardonnay with a creamy crab chowder. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Picture a sun-dappled vineyard on a breezy hillside, where cool Pacific air meets the bright fruit of the Eola–Amity Hills. That sets the stage for our 2024 Roserock Chardonnay. Aromas of pear, citrus blossom, and white peach open to notes of honeyed nectarine, crushed seashell, and a hint of cream. The palate is pure and vibrant, layered with lime and yuzu, leading to a long, elegant finish.

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
