Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Syrah from Andrew Murray opens with a shy anise and black plum bouquet with hints of cedar, cherry, and clay. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, supple, and displays nice tension. The flavor profile is a plum and marionberry blend with notes of graphite and cedar. We also detected hints of oolong tea, faint tobacco, and a dash of white pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and managed tannins drift away nicely. This Syrah will benefit from some aeration in the near term. We would suggest decanting it for a while before pairing it with grilled lamb lollipops, venison steaks, or German sausages. Enjoy - KWGTP
