Wine Review: This brilliant and almost clear colored Riesling from Dr. Loosen is a very good entry level Riesling. It opens with a candied ginger and mild grapefruit bouquet with hints of passionfruit. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, lively, fresh, and sassy. The flavor profile is a candied ginger and passionfruit blend with notes of tangy lime and tart green apple. I also detected hints of lychee. The finish is pleasantly sweet, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. I would pair this Riesling with a chilled crab cocktail. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Loosen Bros. wine is Ernst Loosen's "ambassador" for the Mosel region and for the Riesling variety. It embodies the delicate and racy style that is characteristic of Riesling grown in the slate-soil vineyards of the Mosel valley. And, best of all, it delivers this uniquely delicious and invigorating taste at a very affordable price for everyday enjoyment. It is a bright, refreshing, fruit-driven wine, with a juicy mid-palate and a crisp, drying finish.
