Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Vineyard opens with a cassis and craisin bouquet with hints of pomegranate. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and a little zesty. The flavor profile is a mentholated cherry and vanilla blend with notes of cedar and stone dust. I also detected hints of pomegranate, clove, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, slightly tingly acidity and moderate tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this Cab with a cranberry glazed pork roast. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: This luxurious Cabernet Sauvignon opens with enticing aromas of plum. black currant, and blackberry, accented by hints of boysenberry, blueberry cobbler and allspice. Notes of clove, dark chocolate, cedar, and damp earth add richness and complexity. On the palate, layers of Plum. berry pie. and cranberry sauce unfold with accents of white and black pepper. clove. and bay leaf. Subtle undertones of graphite, cedar, and forest floor create depth and dimension. The plump. round mouthfeel is balanced by soft tannins, vibrant fruit and gentle herbal notes that carry through a smooth. lingering finish.

Winemaker Interview Series - Mike Kobler of Kobler Estate Winery – July 2026

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Mike Kobler. Mike is the winemaker at Kobler Estate Winery. During the interview, we covered two 2024 rosé wines, one made from Pinot Noir and one made from Syrah. We also covered a 2023 and a 2024 Viognier from the Russian River Valley. Those discussions were followed by a focus on a 2023 and a 2024 Chardonnay from the Bacigalupi Vineyards. We wrapped up the interview with a 2022 Syrah and a 2023 "Reserve" Syrah.
