Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Zinfandel from V. Sattui is excellent! It opens with a spicy black plum and brambleberry bouquet with hints of black pepper and oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth, fresh, and seamless. The flavor profile is a blueberry and white spice drop blend with notes of boysenberry and stone dust. I also detected hints of oak, black pepper, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and refined and slightly dusty moderate tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this very impressive and food friendly Zin with beef bourguignon.
