Wine Review: This clear and light white gold colored Chardonnay from J. Lohr is a good value and built for oak lovers. It opens with a fragrant oak and pineapple bouquet with hints of golden delicious apple and bartlett pear. On the palate, this wine is light plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, and rich. The flavor profile is an oak influenced pineapple and Bartlett pear blend with notes of caramel and butter. I also detected hints of spice and green tea. The finish is drifts away nicely as its flavors longer. As mentioned, this wine is for oak lovers. With food, I would pair it with a sherry laced bowl of lobster bisque. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Riverstone's enticing aromas are reminiscent of ripe citrus and apricot, white nectarine, and baking spices. The balanced acidity and texture on the palate from barrel aging sur lie frames flavors of Meyer lemon, ripe peach, citrus cream, hazelnut, and cocoa, with a hint of oak on the long finish. This versatile wine can be enjoyed as an aperitif with triple crème brie or it will prove a wonderful pairing with Tuscan bean soup.
