Wine Review: This clear and dark red colored Pinot Noir from Dave Phinney and his Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG) label opens with a fragrant spiced cranberry and pomegranate bouquet with hints of raspberry tea. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, rich, and a little lush. The flavor profile is sweet cherry and dried strawberry blend with notes of spiced ripe red raspberry. I also detected hints of white pepper, craisin, and vanilla. The wine drifts away finely on the finish with fine tannins. We sipped this Pinot after dinner after dinner at a wine bar on the shore of Lake Norman. It was the perfect pairing with the evening. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A medium ruby core with a vivid rose rim, the 2023 Acolytes Pinot Noir opens with beguiling aromatics most associated with the varietal. Such as ripe cherry, muddled strawberry, sandalwood, and baking spices. The palate reveals layers upon layers of ripe red and blue fruits along with a hint of cedar and white pepper. Bright on the finish, the wine closes at length with guilty hint of baked cherry turnover.
