Wine Review: This clear and pale straw colored Albarino from Terras Gauda opens with a grapefruit pith and nectarine bouquet with hints of lemon zest and gardenia. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bright, fresh, and zippy. The flavor profile is a grapefruit pith and nectarine blend with notes of lemon verbena and minerality. I also detected hints of saline and honeydew melon. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity are very nicely extended. I would pair this refreshing Albarino with a grilled swordfish steak. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2025 vintage will be remembered as one of the most balanced in recent years. On the one hand, it stands out for its aromatic intensity of citrus fruits, with grapefruit predominating, accompanied by light notes of white and stone fruits such as Golden apple and apricot, finishing with a subtle hint of fresh grass. On the other hand, it surprises with its magnificent balance on the palate, resulting in a generous, broad, and lively wine. Its well-integrated acidity provides great freshness and vibrancy. The bouquet is distinctly citrus-driven and marked by white fruit notes, with a long and pleasant finish. The citrus and tropical notes of this wine make of it a great companion of any seafood menu. Perfect pairing for the raw bar, try it with West Coast Oysters. Special calling for Maryland blue crab and why not, some casual fresh fish tacos.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Jeff Gaffner again. Jeff is the winemaker and owner of Saxon Brown Wines. During the interview, we covered four single-vineyard 2023 Chardonnays, three Pinot Noirs, a cuvee, and two single-vineyard offerings, also from the 2023 vintage.
