Wine Review: This clear and straw-colored Grosses Gewächs (GG) level Riesling from St. Urbans-Hof opens with a paraffin wax, nectarine, and lime bouquet with hints of Anjou pear and nutmeg. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is fresh, bright, slightly viscous, and zesty. The flavor profile is a tasty blend of tonic water and light lime with notes of kiwi, nectarine, and Anjou pear. I also detected hints of candy wax, green tea, and fresh herbs. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger for a bit before drifting away nicely. I would pair this Riesling with grilled arctic char with pear. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Bockstein GG is a deeply structured, perfectly balanced, and animated Riesling with fresh citrus and grapefruit flavors, a significant spicy and smoky minerality and many hints of peppery spices and wild herbs. Full-bodied but due to its mature acidity and cool climate origin, it keeps a refined and elegant character.
