Winemaker Notes: The 2005 Grand Detour Pinot Noir is a blend of three Sonoma Coast vineyards: Kanzler, Keller Estate, and Armagh. There is also some fruit from the Solomon Hills Vineyard in Santa Barbara. The result is a wine that exhibits great typicity and elegant balance. The initial aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon spice are underpinned by toasty French oak. Supple tannins contribute to a long, silky finish. This wine will pair well with game, duck, and salmon as wel as mushroom accented dishes.
