Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored kitchen sink blend from Agricola Punica in the Isola dei Nuraghi region in Sardinia is very good. It opens with a graphite, oak, and black cherry bouquet with hints of black tea, red plum, and dried herbs. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with well-integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, super smooth, and slightly viscous. The flavor profile is a ripe black cherry and black licorice blend with notes of menthol and blackberry tea. I also detected hints of spiced black plum, graphite, and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its well-managed moderate tannins are nicely sustained. I would pair this Carignano (aka Carignan) with Colorado lamb lollipops. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: A deep ruby red color, this elegant and intense wine presents aromas of red fruits like cherry and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with black fruit flavors like blackberry and soft saline notes along with elegant traces of capers, rosemary, and black pepper. The finish is velvety and long. Pair with grilled steak, lamb, or spicy pasta dishes.
