Wine Review: If you are looking to try something different, give this Schiava also known as Vernatsch a try. It is a very light red wine from the Dolomites. It opens with a mild smoky oak and light purple grape bouquet. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, balanced and easy going. The flavor profile is a gentle strawberry and red cherry blend with hints of mild minerality. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This Schiave would pair well with light meals. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Ruby-red with a purple shimmer color. Bouquet is subtly pronounced, fresh, fruity, floral (violet) and white pepper. On the palate, it is light to medium bodied, well-balanced, juicy, soft and dry. Best to be consumed in 1-3 years. Pair with pasta or pizza.
