Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored blend opens with a black cherry and boysenberry bouquet with a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced, zesty and savory. The flavor profile is spicy black plum with notes of black cherry, boysenberry and mild licorice. We also detected hints of strawberry, integrated minerality and a touch of oak and black pepper. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are managed, yet stick around for a while. Winemaker Notes: On the nose: Red raspberry and blackberry fruit with dark mocha and cedar spice. On the palate: Ripe Zinfandel hits you initially red and black fruit, raspberry, cranberry and hints of currant. The mid-palate fruit builds with velvety tannins that expose a sizable but elegant structure that trials into a sexy toasted oak finish that lingers on like a first kiss…longing for more. Enjoy the funkadelic! Be careful, this one will make you dance and think!
