Wine Review: This pitch black colored Syrah from Paso Robles opens with a macerated black cherry and chocolate cake bouquet with a hint of prune. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, smooth and savory. The flavor profile is a black licorice and espresso blend with notes of mild black olive, blackberry and a hint of prune. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins show nice length. I would pair this very nice Syrah with braised short ribs. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2014 Austin Hope Syrah has a seductive purple-black core with a violet rim. Intense aromas of muddled blackberry, dried currant and creme de cassis combine with undertones of smoke, leather, Herbs de Provence and dried violets. The entry is dense, yet vibrant with lush, dark fruit and sweet baking spices. The velvety tannins and lively acidity make for a beautifully integrated and age-worthy wine.
