Wine Review: This dark eggplant colored Syrah based blend from Biserno opens with an espresso and dark chocolate bouquet with hints of fig and iron filings. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is blackberry and gentle tobacco blend with notes of black plum and black olive. I also detected hints of cedar, oolong tea, and stone dust. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and polished fine tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this red blend with Mississippi pot roast served over mashed potatoes or with chicken marbella. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The wine is a brilliant deep purplish, red, with violet hues. The bouquet offers a complex array of aromas: from fruity, attributable to cherry and sour cherry, to elegant and well-integrated peppery and boisée spices, closing with nuances of rosemary and myrtle, typical of the Mediterranean maquis. The entry onto the palate is fresh and vibrant, thanks to a nice acidity that sustains the mouthfeel. Fragrant, with a juiciness characterized by red fruits. Well-rounded tannins are present in the finish which closes with outstanding persistence.
