Wine Review: This shiny gold colored Sauvignon Blanc from Brandborg is very good. It opens with a gooseberry, lemon and ginger bouquet with a hint of canned peas. On the palate, this wine is full bodied which is unique for a Sauvignon Blanc. It is also pleasantly acidic, savory and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a yellow grapefruit and mineral blend with notes of almond and lemon. I also detected a hint of honey. The finish is round and nicely prolonged. This rich Sauvignon Blanc reminded me of an aged dry Riesling. I would pair this interesting wine with Zuni Cafe’s wood-fired brick oven roasted chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The color is a light straw. The aromas lean towards green notes of fresh mown hay, herb notes of coriander and lemon thyme, green beans, with compelling fruits of guava and pineapple. The flavors carry on with all of this complex mix, with a sweet fruit entry and a tangy acid fullness. The mouthfeel is full, without being cloying, refreshing and lingering. Think fowl or fresh fish, seared or grilled as a pairing.
