Wine Review: This dark ruby colored wine from Italy opens with a red currant and black cherry bouquet with hints of sandalwood, boysenberry, tar, and moist pipe tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is impressively smooth, balanced, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a juicy plum and boysenberry blend with notes of graphite, stewed plum, and cinnamon. We also detected hints of clove spice drops, black coffee, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins linger and last for quite a while. We would decant this youthful wine in the near term and then pair it with Italian braciola or moussaka.
