Wine Review: This hazy and deep ruby colored Cabernet Franc from Cakebread opens with a graphite and black cherry bouquet with hints of bell pepper and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round with no edges. The flavor profile is a black pepper and black currant blend with notes of graphite and blackberry. We also detected hints of black plum and cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and bold tannins stick around for a very long time. We would decant this Cab Franc for a while as it benefits from some aeration. Then we would pair it with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of red plum, black cherry, and delicate violet swirl out of the glass, layered with dried bay leaf, and a whisper of nutmeg. Flavors of sweet black cherry and bright raspberry provide a lush entry, giving way to notes of ripe fig, cedar, and a touch of graphite. Medium-bodied with a supple texture and elegant tannins, the balanced and lengthy finish leaves you with lingering notes of ripe berry, crème brulee, and cocoa.
