Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored Petite Sirah from Carol Shelton opens with a black raspberry bouquet with a hint of blueberry and prune. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty acai berry with notes of boysenberry and black raspberry. I also detected hint of red plum and cinnamon. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins fade away nicely. This is not your typical big Petite Sirah. Likely because of the soft 2014 vintage. That said, it is very food friendly. I would pair it in the near term with venison sausage with mushrooms and sage. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Inky blue-purple in color, sweet black raspberry jammy fruit—yum! Dark chocolatey oak spice, bright acidity but very juicy-supple, bit of warm vanilla at finish, structured tannins for aging.
