Wine Review: This hazy and dark ruby colored Carignane from Carol Shelton opens with a black licorice and black raspberry bouquet with hints of cinnamon, violets, and saddle leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, rich, and savory. The flavor profile is cinnamon, black raspberry, and stone dust blend with notes of spiced red plum and Bing cherry. We also detected hints of toasted oak and tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and mild tannins linger nicely. We would pair this very good Carignane with lamb lollipops. Enjoy - KWGTP
