Wine Review: This clear and dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Carol Shelton is old school and a great value. It opens with a very fragrant blackberry jam bouquet with hints of boysenberry, black tea, and pencil lead. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry and cranberry blend with notes of stony minerality and black tea. I also detected hints of oak, boysenberry, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate dusty tannins linger and last for a bit. I would pair this Zinny Zin with your favorite steak fajita recipe. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and raspberry fruit combine with a hint of cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spice loveliness. Smoothly textured in mouth, and the palate is very creamy and round, with a finish that is long with lush jammy fruit.
