Wine Review: This clear and medium red colored Barbera from Carol Shelton opens with a dried red cherry and wet stone bouquet with hints of birch bark, plum, and orange zest. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, soft, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is juicy blackberry and dried cherry blend with notes of cinnamon and dried herbs. We also detected hints of old oak, blueberry, stone dust, and licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine moderate tannins drift away nicely. This wine benefits from a little aeration to bring out all its layers of flavors.
