Wine Review: This red colored Mencia from the Spain opens with a black plum and oak bouquet with hints of red licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is a black licorice and black olive blend with notes of oak and loam. I also detected hints of tobacco and stony minerality. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins build-up and stick around for a very long time. I would pair this rustic good value Mencia with a juicy Angus bacon burger or with beef stew. Enjoy - Ken
