Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Caymus opens with a black cherry and boysenberry bouquet with hints of shortbread and wintergreen. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and dense. The flavor profile is a boysenberry and cherry Twizzler blend with notes of mushroom and oak. We also detected hints of stone dust, black pepper, and thyme. On the finish, its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins are nicely extended. We would pair this Zin with beef bourguignon or with bacon and sausage stuffed mushrooms. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Although Caymus is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, we also produce a small amount of Zinfandel, which was a favorite of late Caymus co-founder Charlie Wagner Sr. It is a varietal that can produce amazing wines across California, and our full-bodied version is perfect for rich foods and hearty cheeses but also enjoyed with pizza and BBQ.
