Wine Review: This clear and dark red colored Mencía based blend from César Márquez Pérez really impressed me. It opens with a smoky oak and black plum bouquet with hints of cinnamon, violets, and wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh, and zesty. The flavor profile is a black cherry, loam, and oak blend with notes of red licorice, spice, and mild blackberry. I also detected hints of pomegranate and oolong tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and gentle mild tannins are nicely extended. This was a terrific value that over delivered and was complex. This food friendly Spanish red went very well with many of the tapas selections at the Barcelona Wine Bar. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Juicy red wine with aromas of fresh red and black fruit, vegetal notes, and spicy hints.
