Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Cabernet Sauvignon based wine from Chappellet opens with a fragrant black cherry and black currant bouquet with hints of graphite. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and slightly viscous. The flavor profile is a black currant and blackberry blend with notes of stone dust and cranberry. We also detected hints of black pepper, black tea, and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and well-managed refined tannins are nicely sustained. We would pair this red blend with braised short ribs or slow cooked beef brisket. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This beautifully aromatic wine leaps from the glass with effusive aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and plum, as well as French oak-inspired hints of clove, cardamom and cedar and notions of black pepper and fresh herbs. On the richly textured palate, lush ripe berry layers echo the aromas, with fine-grained tannins framing the luxurious flavors as they glide to a lingering dark chocolate and anise finish.
