Wine Review: This hazy and dark ruby colored Cabernet based wine from Chateau Haut-Bages Liberal opens with a cigar box and pencil shavings bouquet with hints of blackberry and barnyard. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is a boysenberry and oolong tea blend with notes of tar and graphite. We also detected hints of olive and thyme. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and gentle tannins drift away nicely.
