Wine Review: This crowd-pleasing Merlot is a slightly hazy medium ruby color with medium legs in the glass. The bouquet is dark cherry, dark berry with hints of green pepper and new leather. On the palate, it is fruit forward with no rough edges and has a medium body along with gentle acidity. Flavors of cherry and blueberry mix with light oak, minerality and a touch of black pepper. The finish is slightly spicy with gentle tannins that lasts a long time. Pair this good value Merlot with grilled Cornish game hens with wild rice. – Mark

Winemaker Notes: Chateau Souverain Merlot opens with dark red fruit aromas reminiscent of black cherry, plum, and fresh blueberries complemented by hints of brown spice and baking chocolate. This Merlot finishes with soft acidity and a fruit-driven balance that gives the wine a polished sense of elegance.
