Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Merlot based red blend from Château De Pez opens with a smoke, cedar, and cassis bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and savory. The flavor profile is a black plum and graphite blend with notes of oak and tobacco. I also detected hints of black cherry and red beet. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this red blend with grilled flat iron steak or with an oxtail stew. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Can you sense those mineral notes of gunflint and cedar? With fruity nuances of raspberry and blackcurrant. Aromas of licorice come to the fore, mingled with hints of spice, particularly cinnamon. The palate is full-bodied, rich, and generous. Do you get the sense of those fresh notes of licorice and black cherry? Do you like those polished tannins and this long finish?
