Wine Review: This spicy brooding wine from California is a medium ruby color and opens with dark berries, smoky peat and wet terra cotta on the nose. It is full bodied, fruity, chewy and concentrated, with medium acidity and some elevated alcohol. I found flavors of very ripe raspberry, blackberry, dark cherry, tobacco, black pepper and a touch of clove. There are plenty of chunky tannins in the warm lingering finish. This Mourvedre would pair well with wild mushroom ravioli with brown butter sauce. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: Ancient Vines Mourvedre offers distinct chocolate characteristics, luscious deep plum, and concentrated cherry. This full-bodied wine has a substantial mouth-feel followed by structured and balanced warm tannins that linger on the finish.
