Wine Review: This cloudy and dark garnet colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Cornell opens with an inviting black cherry and boysenberry bouquet with hints of eucalyptus. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and displays nice tension. The flavor profile is a black plum and flinty minerality blend with notes of black tea and dried herbs. We also detected hints of red licorice and pomegranate. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its mild fine tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Cab with a grilled hanger steak in the near term. Enjoy - Ken & Stuart
Winemaker Notes: Among the wooded peaks of the Mayacamas range lies our vineyard home, an oasis above the fog where we tune into a collaboration with nature. While we are not the first pioneers to cultivate and enjoy this idyllic site, it remains untamed and unpredictable. In 2022 the vintage shows remarkable poise and presence. This wine is a crowning expression of our maturing vines. With age, the vineyard is channeling darker, more concentrated fruit within an elegant tannic frame. Generous blueberry, blackberry, and black tea play with the classic Cabernet Sauvignon totems of tobacco, cedar, and espresso. The lively energy of orange zest and chocolate covered orange peel lift and highlight this superbly layered wine.
