Wine Review: This clear and dark ruby colored Red Blend from Cornell opens with a shy and gentle cassis bouquet with hints of earth tones. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, savory, and a little mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a black plum and black licorice blend with notes of cassis and graphite. We also detected hints of oak and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed refined tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this excellent Red Blend with Stuart’s beef wellington. Enjoy - Ken & Stuart

Winemaker Notes: North Block is named for the northern vineyard blocks at Cornell, located along the edge of the property, where cooler exposures, deeper soils, and a sheltered ridgeline create a uniquely expressive growing environment. Led by Cabernet Franc and Merlot and inspired by the classical traditions of Bordeaux’s Right Bank, North Block reflects a deliberate exploration of these varieties when grown for balance rather than power. Two distinct Cabernet Franc clones bring clarity, red-toned fruit, and herbal notes, while Merlot adds texture, generosity, and quiet depth. Together, they form a wine defined by elegance, restraint, and harmony.
