Wine Review: This Excellent midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Davis Estates was extremely popular with the Tasting Panel. It opens with an inviting boysenberry and black plum bouquet with hints of moist pipe tobacco and black pepper. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. It is also nicely balanced, round, refined, and juicy. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum and black currant blend with notes of mocha. We also detected hints of fig, licorice, and toasted oak in the mix. The finish is dry, and its mild tannins and flavors fade away nicely. The Panel would pair this wine with a filet mignon or with braised lamb shanks over mashed potatoes. For dessert, it would also go well with a Tazo dark chocolate cake. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The 2017 Zephyr is alluring at first sight showing a dark rich red color verging on burgundy. Blackberry cobbler and brown sugar notes tantalize the nose along with hints of chocolate and coffee. Layers of dark cherry and black currant on the palate lead into a toasted oak finish. Bold silky tannins make this approachable now, and the full-bodied finish will allow you to lay it down for many years.
