Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Davis Estates opens with black currant, black cherry, and black licorice bouquet with hints of dark chocolate, black pepper, and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth, soft, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a gentle cassis and licorice blend with notes of crushed stone minerality and blackberry. We also detected some hints of dark chocolate, oak, walnut, and tea in the mix. The finish is dry, and its refined dusty tannins build-up and linger for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would decant this red blend before serving it by the fireplace with a well-marbled ribeye.
