Wine Review: This hazy and ruby colored Grenache from Domaine de la Janasse opens with a black raspberry and black plum bouquet with hints of metal shavings. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and bright. The flavor profile is a tart red plum and pomegranate blend with notes of black tea and kalamata olive. I also detected hints of stony minerality and red licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate fine tannins linger nicely. I would pair this Chateauneuf du Pape with chateaubriand. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: A beautiful bottle, the archetype of the appellation, expressing the quintessence of Grenache in its birthplace of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With notes of black fruit and violet, this cuvée advances in age with suppleness, with already mellow tannins. Pair with wild boar stew.
