Wine Review: This ruby colored Chateauneuf du Pape from Grand Tinel opens with a strawberry licorice and potting soil bouquet with hints of pencil shavings. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, fresh and bright. The flavor profile is very tasty, dried strawberry and black plum blend with notes of crushed stone minerality and oolong tea. We also detected some hints of pomegranate and vanilla in the mix. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins linger and last for a very long time. We would recommend decanting this outstanding wine for well over an hour and then serving it with a well marbled ribeye.
