Wine Review: This hazy and deep garnet colored Merlot from Duckhorn opens with a graphite and blueberry bouquet with hints of oak, chocolate, and blackberry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with beautifully integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, silky smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is mild cherry and blueberry blend with notes of mocha and graphite. We also detected hints of oak, candied violets, spice, and black plum. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its refined polished tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this excellent Merlot with a filet mignon smothered with a classic pan sauce of red wine and mushrooms or with a roast beef covered with a mushroom gravy. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The exceptional 2021 growing season produced an epic and elegantly full-bodied expression of Merlot from our famed Three Palms Vineyard, with alluring aromas of huckleberry, fig jam, cranberry, cocoa and rose petals. On the palate, flavors of blackberry, cherry, molasses, and wet slate minerality are framed by a sumptuous structure and fine, graceful tannins.
