Wine Review: This opaque and dark garnet colored Zinfandel from Dutcher Crossing opens with a blackberry and iron shavings bouquet with hints of bell pepper, black licorice, and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, silky smooth, and bright. The flavor profile is mild blackberry and flinty minerality blend with notes of stewed black plum tea and red bell pepper. We also detected hints of cedar, orange zest, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Zin with steak fajitas or burnt ends. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 Maple Vineyard shows off classic Zinfandel notes of purple plums, blackberries, cracked pepper along with cocoa powder, baking spices, dried orange peel, and hints of floral aromas of citrus flowers, and violets. The wine is a harmoniously choreographed dance of fruit, spices, acid, and tannin. The flavors glide flawlessly across your palate, and the finish is long and drawn out leaving the audience tasting the wine for a very long time. I envision this wine to be paired with a smoked pork butt, Georgia style, finish with a sauce that has just a hint of sweetness.
