Wine Review: This clear and ruby colored Pinot Noir from Dutcher Crossing opens with a light pipe tobacco and red raspberry tea bouquet with hints of licorice and cigar box. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, and graceful. The flavor profile is a cinnamon, loam, and red plum blend with notes of red raspberry tea and clove. We also detected hints of kumquat, black pepper, and pomegranate. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and refined tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Pinot with a sage and garlic crusted pork tenderloin or with Sheri’s sausage stuffed mushrooms. Enjoy - Ken & Joe
Winemaker Notes: The first impression you get from the 2023 Ferrington Pinot Noir is that the color of the wine is a vibrant mash up of deep red and purple, a fusion of the two, almost Fushia in tone; the intense color is a sign of good things to come. Packed with aromas, you first get notes of red fruits bursting from your glass, them pomegranate, cherry, and cranberry are accented by baking spices, white mushrooms, cocoa powder, and orange blossom. The palate is lively with bright red fruit flavors and boasts tannins that provide a firm structure and backbone all wrapped in lovely acidity that drives throughout the wine and helps extend out a finish that brings home hints of citrus. Try pairing with traditional style ravioli filled with veal and finished with braised savoy and a pan sauce.
