Wine Review: This light gold colored Chardonnay from Dutton Estate opens with a pineapple and oak bouquet with hints of Macintosh apple and lime zest. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and easy going. The flavor profile is an oak influenced baked apple and butter blend with notes of spice and pear. I also detected hints of pineapple, butterscotch, and quince. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity drift away nicely. Theresa loved this Chard and it paired perfectly with Lucia’s Pollo e Zucca di Zucca aka sauteed chicken with butternut squash ravioli simmered in a parmesan cheese, and chiffonade fresh sage cream sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Sisters Selection Chardonnay is named after our clear-eyed, hardworking eldest daughter who oversees the winery as Vice President of Business Operations. This Chardonnay has a decadent nose of apricot, vanilla, and caramel notes to greet the senses. On the palate this wine bursts with flavors of apple and pear and shows the oak influence with hints of toast and baking spices - almost like your favorite apple pie! The winemaking style preserves acidity despite the rich flavors and aromas, making this a medium-bodied, food-friendly wine. A hearty salad topped with orchard fruits, barbecue chicken, or local cheese spread would certainly make this wine shine.
