Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Dutton Goldfield is very good. It opens with a black cherry bouquet with hints of elderberry and tar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is an oak and strawberry rhubarb blend with notes of tart cranberry and pomegranate. The finish is dry and its flavors linger nicely. Our tasting group suggested pairing this Pinot with blackened grilled tuna. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2015 crop severely limited. Thus, the grapes were especially concentrated with flavor. This shows through perfectly in our Deviate, which is already a bold wine, making it even more dense and rich. At the same time, the wine remains pretty with its leading aromas of blackberry blossoms and violets. The rich, absorbing aromas continue with loads of blueberry and red currant fruit. The entry is exceptionally luxurious, enveloping your tongue with black raspberry jam fringed by earthy notes of tobacco, cedar and black tea. The finish is long and lingering with dark berries accented by floral flourishes. You will want a rich and mouth-filling dish to accompany this wine. We suggest gnocchi with a meat sauce or veal scaloppini.
