Wine Review: This bright ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Freestone Hill Vineyard opens with a strawberry licorice and rhubarb bouquet with hints of black pepper, pipe tobacco and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well-balanced, round and soft, but forceful. The flavor profile is a tart red plum and rhubarb blend with notes of minerality, oak and cinnamon. We also detected hints of nutmeg and red currant. The finish is dry and its flavors and tingly acidity drift away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this Pinot with pan-seared tuna or pan-seared cracked black pepper venison. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our 2017 Freestone Hill is an especially luscious wine. Showing initial notes of candied raspberry in the nose, and the sense of creaminess that enfolds the aromas. As the wine opens, bright cranberry and pomegranate comes to the front, with black tea and five-spice providing the exotic hallmark Freestone spice that supports the fruit. The mouth is broad and rich, with berry, cigar box, and nutmeg flavors sitting on a firm and solid structure. A lengthy finish of cherry and sandalwood continues the sweet/sultry theme to the end. Pair with grilled quail or with bold cheeses like gruyere or aged Gouda.
