Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Dutton-Goldfield opens with a pomegranate, rhubarb, and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and initially savory. It becomes even more silky with aeration. The flavor profile is a very tasty, boysenberry and black cherry blend with notes of cinnamon and black raspberry. I also detected hints of mild minerality, clove and black pepper showing up towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and fine-grained tannins drift away nicely. This Pinot is great on its own. With food, I would pair it with duck confit. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The nose leads with deep, brooding aromas of woodsy dark berries, rhubarb, and beet. Brighter red cherry notes follow with time in the glass. Ripe wild berries are framed by spice box notes of sandalwood, cinnamon, and nutmeg on the first sip, which is carried on a supple texture. Boysenberry and black raspberry spread across the palate, showing great breadth even at a young age. Firm, round tannins on the finish let you know this will age beautifully, so be sure to put a few bottles away to try in 5 to 10 years.
